Here is a little more about Jesse & Sam, the owner-founders of BFA:

Jesse is a qualified cabinet maker, having started his apprenticeship in 2006. He has had a couple of ‘trade breaks’ for either travelling or his two year stint as a full-time skydive instructor. His favourite aspects of being a joiner are working with his hands and seeing his designs come to life. Jesse has worked in shops (retail and offices) houses, airports and vehicles, obviously.

Ever the keen student, Sam has a Bachelor of Arts (International Studies), a Bachelor of Commerce and is currently studying Interior Design. Her degrees have all taken her longer than they were “supposed to”, taking time off for plenty of travel and adventures, such as marrying Jesse over in Coronado, CA, giving birth to their son and daughter, starting a business, a gap year or two .

20 Questions:

1. If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future?

J - Future so I can place some bets on sports games, ha!

S - I’d go back in time so I could spend time with my dad before he passed

2. Pineapple on Pizza?

J - I don’t have a problem with it but don’t order it

S - Yes…. but only ‘bad’ pizza not the woodfired goodness

3. Where would you choose for your next overseas holiday?

J - Europe, Wales straight up.

S - Italy so I can visit my family - my entire family on my mum’s side live there and I miss them a lot! Or in terms of places I’ve never been, Japan and Malta are probably at the top of the list.

4. Coffee order?

J - Looooooooong black

S - Soy cap in the morning, short black in the arvo. Or in summer, iced soy lattes allllllllll day.

5. Early mornings or late nights?

J - I like early mornings for life activities - hobbies etc but late nights for work

S - Both

6. Describe your three most used emojis

J - Laughing face with crying, ok hand symbol and shrug

S - Smiley face with love hearts around it, face palm and shrug

7. Ultimate burger fillings?

J - Lentil burger with Sweet Baby Ray’s, tomato, spinach, vegan cheese and a couple of jalapenos

S - Crunchy baguette, lentil pattie or smoky BBQ tofu, butter lettuce, red cabbage, avocado, slice of cheese, pineapple, kewpie, chilli jam and BBQ sauce. Bit on.

8. Favourite sports teams?

J - YAY sports…..

S - Brisbane Lions, Anaheim Ducks and pretty much the whole F1 grid, depends on my mood on the day

9. What is the one thing you always lose?

J - My mind and tape measures

S - I constantly misplace my phone and it’s always on silent

10. What’s on your road trip playlist?

J - Depends on the mood… chill vibes for driving during the day, hard bass for driving at night

S - It’s a mix - a bit of Ruel, Halsey, Måneskin, Ocean Grove, Ben Platt, MGK, Harry Styles - anyone and no one.

11. What are you currently watching?

J - Nothing, maybe some YouTube or cycling docos

S - Kim’s Convenience, Derry Girls, Queer Eye

12. Top red flag?

J - No keep cup

S - People who don’t use keep cups or reusable water bottles

13. Any idea why you parents named you what they did?

J - No but I can tell you it would have been Jesse no matter what gender I was born

S - They liked the name and wanted something that could be shortened. My middle is name is my bisnonna’s name.

14. Most used apps on your phone?

J - Car Sales, Strava, Mail and Instagram

S - Insta, Outlook, Google Calendars

15. Your ideal way to bring in the New Year?

J - An early bed time for a fresh morning sunrise

S - Just being somewhere it’s quiet and secluded enough to clearly see the stars

16. Porn star name? (first pet's name and the street you grew up on)

J - Holly Vista

S - Bowie Bruce

17. What is at the top of your wishlist?

J - More hours in the day

S - For time to slow down

18. Your best birthday to date - where were you?

J - White water rafting in Aspen

S - Hiking in NZ

19. What do you like to snack on while watching a movie?

J - A vegan ice cream of some description

S - A mix of popcorn and dark chocolate

20. Favourite van so far?

J - Ohhh tough - Probably Rory or Hamilton…

S - There is no way I could possibly choose. They’re all designed for different people and different things so it all depends what kind of trip you’re heading on to decide which one would be best for that.
