SLOAN THE SPRINTER
The name Sloan is often associated with brave leaders and tall tales — this van already has one of those boxes ticked and the tall tales are on their way.
Although inspiration was drawn from Siren the Sprinter, another MWB Mercedes, Sloan is a strong character in it’s own right.
Starting inside, we have three layers of soundproofing and insulation with black carpeting for the trims, complemented by the striking black grooves within the natural Australian timber ceiling and wall linings. Underfoot, there is waterproof New England blackbutt flooring.
For the cabinetry, we used both Plyco’s Decoply in ‘Slate’ and their hardwood veneer benchtops, also in Blackbutt as well as our black van ply. Keeping it lightweight is always of utmost priority. The cabinetry is rounded out with gas-strut overhead storage, a full-height pantry, soft-closing drawers, and self-locking handles.
Appliances elevate the space further - a MaxxFan Deluxe for ventilation, a diesel heating and hot water system for warmth, a microwave for convenience, a Smart TV for rainy day entertainment, and Dometic air conditioning to keep cool. The lighting set up adds to the vibes with dimmable ceiling-mounted strips, under-cabinet LEDs, the dual-purpose MaxxFan Dome and reading lights at the bed.
There is a robust electrical setup to power the abounding adventures. It includes 600AH of lithium batteries, 3000-watt inverter, solar integration, augmented electrical display, Bluetooth battery monitoring, upgraded wiring, numerous USB and 240v power points and a Starlink with all fit off completed by licensed electricians.
The dapper ensuite shower has volcanic grey walls, black hardware, a tiled base and is accompanied by our favourite toilet, the OGO. The plumbing system is comprised of efficient water pumps and ample water storage (both internal and under-body) to cater for the type of travel the clients have planned.
The kitchen offers a sleek black sink and tap combo, a double burner induction stove and a huge 190L Bushman fridge for the enthusiastic cook.
The fixed double bed, complete with a custom inner-spring mattress and breathable underlay, alongside a full set of Built for Advanture window covers promise restful nights.
Further internal enhancements include a swivel dining table located at the rotating seats in the front cabin, additional windows at the bed, storage nooks in the rear doors, a Stratus Outdoors trestle table nestle into its own little spot and a premium headliner shelf.
Step outside to find a 3.2m Fiamma awning offering shade, complete with under-awning lighting for evenings spent enjoying the outdoors. An ARB nudge bar plus full-length Front Runner roof rack and side ladder add utility and the flyscreens invite fresh air inside while keeping occupants protected.
